The Department of Special Surgery is considered one of the important specialized surgical centers in Jordan, as it is equipped with the latest specialized surgery technology, and a group of skilled surgeons and distinguished residents oversee both minor and major surgeries in addition to delicate surgeries.

 The department contains 35 specialized surgeons who cover most of the different surgical specialties and they are part of the teaching staff of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Science and Technology, and the department forms the following divisions:

•  Ophthalmology Division
•  Division of Ear, Nose and Throat
•  Orthopedic Division
•  Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
•  Division of pediatric dental surgery

The department's educational activities

•  The department is considered one of the training center in Jordan and the Middle East, and it grants certificates of high specialization in special surgery
•  Training of medical students
•  The hospital is a certified training center for the Arab Board and the Jordanian Board
•  Daily morning report presented by the senior duty representative, according to emergency admission cases
•  Weekly scientific activities and lectures
•  Scientific and research activities and conferences for members of the department / division (international, local, Arab) in addition to publishing scientific research in refereed scientific journals.

Division of Ear, Nose and Throat

 The division covers various specialties in ear, nose and throat surgery, where a group of skilled surgeons and distinguished residents oversee the minor and major surgeries and delicate surgeries, and many surgeries are performed on a daily routine in this division, including simple traditional surgeries to complex operations and laparoscopic operations, and these operations include:

•  Endoscopic sinus surgery
•  Sinus surgery operations with surgical balloon
•  Laparoscopic operations for the removal of tumors of the pituitary gland and the fundus of the skull
•  Micro-surgery operations of the middle ear
•  Operations to correct the deviation of the frequency of the nose and beautify the shape of the nose
•  Laryngoscopic and bronchoscopic operations
•  Laryngectomy operations partially or completely
•  Cochlear implants
•  Transplantation of vagus nerve stimuli for patients with epilepsy

Orthopedic Division

The Orthopedic Division is considered one of the most important divisions working in the hospital, as it provides the following services:

•  Treating injuries and their complications in all their forms and with the latest scientific methods
•  Pediatric orthopedics services of all kinds, congenital and acquired, and the most important of these services is congenital hip dislocation surgery and deformation of the lower limbs
•  Plastic surgery of lower and upper limb joints
•  Microscopic hand surgery
•  Spine surgery using the latest methods for fractures, spinal diseases and osteoporosis
•  Arthroscopic knee surgery
•  Sports Injury Surgery
•  Surgery of various orthopedic tumors by modern methods

Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

The Oral and Maxillofacial Division at the hospital provides a comprehensive clinical service, including the diagnosis and surgical and medical treatment of diseases, injuries, and defects in terms of functional and cosmetic aspects of the soft tissues and the bones of the oral, facial and maxillofacial region, so the area covered by this specialty extends from the upper part of the neck to the eye socket, and there Close interaction and cooperation with a number of medical specialties such as general surgery, plastic surgery, ear, nose and throat, ophthalmology and neurosurgery using the latest technologies and equipment to provide the best levels of medical care to patients through an elite group of consultants in this field who in addition conduct scientific research and teaching at the University of Science And Jordanian technology
